Church Update
March 25, 2025
Dear Church of the Open Bible,
Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths. - Proverbs 3:5-6
At youth group these days, we have been studying these verses and considering the various ways we are called to acknowledge the Lord. How many of our “ways” are we called to acknowledge the Lord in? All of them. All of our ways. Similarly, we are called to love the Lord our God with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind (Matt 22:37). Whatever we eat or drink, whatever we do, we are to do all to the glory of God (1 Cor 10:31). Responding to God’s grace in Jesus, requires our total allegiance, giving all of who we are.
Recognizing this is important because we are prone to give Jesus only what we think He can handle or what we are not ashamed to give Him. When we do that, not only are we resisting His will, we are also missing out on His redeeming work in that area of our lives. One of the areas that we tend to keep from Jesus is our sexuality.
We live in a world saturated with sexualized content, from movies to social media to video games and online ads. As a result, many people, including believers, struggle to experience sexual health and wholeness. Whether you’re struggling personally, or you want to help a spouse, child, grandchild, or someone you care about, we want to provide biblical instruction and godly wisdom for this area of life.
On April 12, we will be starting Sexuality 101, a 6-week course that will equip adults and older teens to understand and pursue God’s design as sexual beings. Each class will run from 6:30-8:30pm, and will be a mixture of in-person and video teaching, led by myself (Pastor Jeremy) and Dave & Heather Trenholm from Hope Again Ministries. Feel free to invite others as we explore how to surrender this area of our lives to God.
In Him,
Pastor Jeremy
