Church Update
April 22, 2025
Dear Church of the Open Bible,
This past weekend, Brittany and myself, along with Nic and Miranda Cooper, were able to participate in our AGC West Regional Conference in Canmore, Alberta. We were joined by over 80 other delegates from our 44 sister churches west of Ontario. It was an encouraging time to be reminded of the broader family that we are a part of and like-minded co-laborers in God’s kingdom. Just as it is important for individual believers to be connected with others, it is also important for individual churches to be in relationship with other churches for support and sharpening.
Growing up on the Prairies has made me appreciate the spacious canvas of a wide sky and vast horizon. Since my visits to the Rocky Mountains are not frequent, I am still amazed at their stature and beauty. These impressive mountains are the same as when I was a child vacationing with my family decades ago. This awe made my recent reading in Psalm 97 all the more remarkable.
The mountains melt like wax before the LORD, before the Lord of all the earth.
The heavens proclaim his righteousness, and all the peoples see his glory. - Ps. 97:5–6
These incredible mountains, these bastions of strength and endurance over millennia, they “melt like wax before the Lord.” How gloriously powerful is our Lord!
As church leaders, we considered the rising challenges of ministry with more hostile government policies like Bill C-9 and the rapid spread of AI (Artificial Intelligence) use. As believers, you might feel increasing anxiety and instability. Let me encourage you to picture the most durable and secure thing you can imagine. Whatever it is, whatever you imagine, it is soft like wax before the Lord of all the earth.
May we find our security in the Lord and glory Him alone.
In Christ,
Pastor Jeremy
