Last night was our AWANA Grand Prix. As our final night we have a track set up and the kids race their small wooden decorated cars down the track hoping to win. They come to the "pit stop" to get WD-40 on the tires to go faster because that is what their dad or mom told them would help. Sometimes they treat Jesus the same way. They have never seen him or heard his voice but the majority of them love Him and want to do what he says to do. This is the faith Jesus talks about in the Bible.
But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” Luke 18:16-17
The faith of a child is not only real, but it is without doubt. When Ellie was three and we started going to church she immediately began asking others if they believed in Jesus, without fear or hesitation. All she knew is that mom and dad said Jesus was real so it must be true.
As we grow I think we lose some of this. Jesus in this passage reminds us that we must receive the Kingdom of God like a child. Fully trusting God for our salvation. He is real and as Peter says in
John 6:68 "You have the words of eternal life."
So let's be like children this week and fully rely on God for whatever your need is today. He hears your prayers. He is faithful and none can snatch us who believe from his hands.
In Christ,
Nic Cooper
