Dear Church of the Open Bible,

I wish I could bring you all out to camp. I’d introduce you to staff like Dean and Dimitri, who have fascinating stories of how God has led them to serve in camp ministry. I’d introduce you to campers like Luke and Anna, who are teenagers now but keep coming back year after year because what they experience during those five short days is so different from the other 360 throughout the year. And I’d introduce you to “Preach,” the camp speaker who continues to be taught more of God’s heart and the power of His good news to transfer and transform lives.

Many of you were with us at camp last week through your prayers, which we appreciated and depended on. Unfortunately, halfway through the camp, we were evacuated due to nearby forest fires. Continue to pray for the teenagers who encountered God through His Word, and that those seeds would grow and mature. Pray also for the camp, as future weeks have had to be cancelled.

Our theme this past week was “The Greatest Rescue,” and we sought to answer a few questions from God’s Word. Who are we and what do we need rescuing from? Who are we rescued by and how? And finally, what are we rescued for? These are good questions with even better answers.

He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.  - Colossians 1:13–14
